NSW: Labor Council wants datacasting legislation reconsidered

SYDNEY, Jan 13 AAP - Proposed datacasting legislation should be reconsidered in light
of this week's merger between American Internet giant AOL and Time Warner, the New South
Wales Labor Council said today.

The Council said by restricting access to emerging players, the Government is reducing
the number of potential jobs available.

But a spokesman for Federal Communications Minister Senator Richard Alston rejected
the notion the Federal Government's datacasting plans would result in job losses.
